As Pongo Resume marks its fifth anniversary this summer, I've been thinking back to the reasons behind the company's founding, about how we've stayed true to our mission, and what we can accomplish over the next five years.
The decision to form Pongo emerged from a coffee-shop meeting of the four founders in late 2003. At that time, the country was emerging from the "dot bomb" recession, which helped spur the growth and popularity of online job boards such as Monster and HotJobs. But as we saw this unfold, we believed that the resume posting functions and resume advice sections on these sites were only helping the job boards' primary customers: the employers who paid to advertise their job listings. No one, it seemed, was focusing on the needs of the job seeker. That, we determined, would be our mission.
Several months later, Pongo Resume made its debut. We've been growing ever since, and we intend to keep on growing with one goal always in the front of our minds: Focus on the needs of the job seeker.
