Poll: How Long Have You Been Unemployed?

August 25, 2009 (4:23PM) by Julie O'Malley, CPRW

Duration of Employment GraphConsumer confidence levels may be soaring and unemployment numbers may be dropping (slightly), but none of that matters to you if you're still in the middle of a job search and desperate for a paycheck.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average duration of unemployment is about 22.5 weeks (or a little over 5 months). But as the graph shows, quite a few people are actually getting hired in less time than that.

So, we're wondering how your experience compares with the national average. If you're currently unemployed, please take our poll and let us know how long it's been. Or, if you recently found a job, how long did it take?
