Printing

Can I print without having Flash installed?

E-Mail

Note: Please read the answers to our Flash Questions first.

Yes...it's not ideal, but in most instances you can print without having the latest version of Flash installed. (This is sometimes necessary if your computer is in a shared network environment, a public library, etc., where you cannot access the Flash download.)

The "work-around" solution to printing without Flash involves using the Download button in our application (top-middle of the tool bar).

  • Click on the Download button. A new window will open.
  • Select PDF format.
  • Your resume will open in a new window in PDF format.
  • You can now print, but this time, you'll print from your BROWSER menu (click File > Print).

Some things to remember...

Your Browser has print settings that may cause "header and footer" information ("http://…") to print on the top and bottom of the page. We have no control over these settings since they are local to your computer. You'll want to remove this information before proceeding.

For example: Internet Explorer users will need to click File > Page Setup. You will see the header and footer information in a text box. Clear the characters from this field and then Print.

 Success Story
I responded to a job ad with my own resume and brief cover letter. After a week I heard nothing. Then I found Pongo's site and created a much nicer resume and cover letter and re-sent it to the same employer. A day later she called me and scheduled an interview. At the interview, she told me that she was not going to call me based on my first submission because "it told her nothing about me." She said the second one impressed her and that I should buy lunch for "whoever" helped me with it. I don't know if it will result in a job but it is definitely helping with getting interviews. - Linda B.
