The Pongo Blog is one year old today, and to observe the occasion, we’ve selected some of the wisest and wittiest comments readers have left over the past year. "People shouldn't have to indicate on their resume that they're "good with computers" anymore. The only people who shouldn't have solid computer skills would be those raised in a cave by wolves. If someone wasn't raised in that fashion and doesn't have any computer skills, even the most basic of skills, that would indicate to me that they either skipped a lot of school when they were young or just plain didn't pay attention.

"I'll add one that always bugs me... the phrase 'participated in'. 'Participated in a project to divert an asteroid from destroying the Earth.' Great, does that mean you designed the spacecraft that blew it up, or made copies for the guy who did? That's a phrase you see all the time and it means LESS than nothing."

"Here's something important to remember — in the event your manager tries to get you to stay after you've voiced your intent to leave, remember why it is you wanted to leave in the first place. Chances are that the reasons why you are leaving will still be there if you stay.
Also, statistics have shown that employees who have given their notice but changed their mind and stayed are more likely to be laid off if a layoff occurs. They are also more likely to be passed over for promotions. Most experts will tell you that once you give your notice you should stick with that decision and not change your mind.

In addition to being specific about your title 'Executive Assistant', take it a step more and list the title of the person that you assisted such as 'Executive Assistant for the Vice President of Sales' or 'Executive Assistant for the Dean of Student Affairs.' This helps HR Managers and recruiters know which area of expertise to place you. The difference in the information that you submit to a prospective employer may help you in finding a better position."

"Baldness is NOT necessarily a sign of age. Anyone who would assume that needs to live a little bit. There are several factors that can cause baldness other than age, some voluntary and some not.
"Bald women aren't bad to hire, either.
"The true discrimination that exists in the hiring market today is based on AGE, certainly not the amount of hair someone has. Boast all you want about being gainfully employed, but the time comes for all of us eventually where we can't say that."

"One of my biggest peeves are those 20-somethings that think they own the world. You know, the ones that come out of college and they're just cocky and think they know it all.
"I can tell right away which of them are going to make it and which will be a victim of their own arrogance. Most of them are childish little brats who don't know how to behave in the workplace. They act like idiots and the women dress like little whores and flaunt themselves in the workplace. The little boy brats love it so much.
"I like to stomp 'em. I like taking them to task and showing them that they have to put their time in before they can act like their %$^%& doesn't stink. So many of these little brats are headed in the wrong direction and if they don't grow up and act like professionals, I, for one, won't help them learn the ropes.
"When I started working in a professional environment, if I would have acted how the kids do now, I wouldn't be where I am today - owner of my own company. I like to squash 'em like little bugs ... little annoying gnats that buzz around your face. I squash 'em and put them in their place ... if they want to work for me!"

"You may have misunderstood my comment — I don't think everyone should be short. I think people 6 feet tall or even taller have a useful purpose in this life. Although we did learn, through the adventures of Peter Brady, that being short is an ok thing, being tall can also prove to be a good thing also!"
