Resume Creation Tips: Part I

June 16, 2005

Dear ,

This article describes some of the key functions you'll use to create your online resume. The first screen you see after login is the “My Resume” page that lists the resumes you have in the system.

Getting Started
This article will help maximize your use of the software, describing some key functions you'll use to create your online resume(s). Access your resume anytime and from any computer.

The first screen you see after you login is the “My Resume” page that lists the resumes you have in the system. To edit an existing resume, click on the “Edit” button beneath the name of the resume you wish to edit.  Start a new resume by scrolling to the bottom of the “My Resume(s)” page and selecting “New Resume."

Login to your account, click here.

New Resume
Click on “New Resume” to create a new resume. When creating a new resume, the system will ask you to first enter a unique name for it. Enter a descriptive title so you can easily distinguish between multiple resumes in the future. (The resume version name will not appear on the resume.)

Editor
The system will then open to the “resume editor”, where you enter your resume content and have immediate access to our resume agent (your online guide for creating or improving a resume).  You’ll also have access to powerful customization tools to refine each of your resumes so that they're perfect for every position you apply for.

Resume Agent
Resume Agent will appear in the left margin to offer tips and advice for each resume section.

Login to your account, click here.

Preferences
The system automatically sequences your experience and education by date, listing the most recent experiences
and education first. To manually control how these are sequenced click on the “Preferences” button.

Headings
The system automatically adds your name and contact information at the top of the resume.  The system also starts your resume with basic headings that include “Objective”, “Experience”, “Education”, “Interests”, and “Keyword Summary”, just to get you started. Click on the “Headings” button located in the upper right to select the headings you want.  From within this window, you can also create your own custom resume heading.
