What is the difference between the download formats?

When you download your Resume or Letter as a Word document, it retains the professional-looking formatting you saw on our site. If you need to make substantial edits, we suggest you make them in the online version (within your account), and then re-download.

A PDF document provides you with the highest level of security. The file format can be viewed, but cannot be altered by anyone receiving your document.

With Text, sometimes referred to as ASCII, we carefully remove the formatting. Why? Most job boards require unformatted Text for posting resumes, and some companies request ASCII resume submissions. A downloaded Text document is fully editable, but no formatting options (bold, italics, underlining, etc.) can be used.

 Success Story
This service was an excellent guidance tool for me, since I haven't done this for many years. It really led me through the resume writing process step-by-step to make sure I didn't forget any important information along the way. I was really pleased with the service and would highly recommend it to anyone! - James C.
