Job boards such as Monster prefer resumes to be copied and pasted as plain Text (sometimes known as ASCII Text), so the first step is to copy your resume in Text format.
To do so, open your resume and click the Download button, then click the button to Download Your Resume as a “Text” File. In a new window, you’ll see your resume as plain, unformatted Text. Select (or highlight) all the text and copy it (under the Edit menu, click Select All, then go back to the Edit menu and click Copy).
Close the window to go back to your original resume page.
- On your resume page, you can either click Post in the upper menu bar, or click the purple Monster link in the left margin. Then, click the Go To Monster.com button.
- On the Monster page, log in if you’re already a member, or create a new Monster account.
- Once you’re logged in to Monster, click on the Post Resume tab in the upper menu bar, and choose Copy & Paste.
- Fill in the required information. When you get to the window labeled Copy & Paste Resume, place your cursor in the white box and paste your resume text (under the Edit menu, click Paste).
- Finish filling out the form, then click Save Resume.
