Weekly Web Picks: Dad's Job Rejection Cracks Up Baby

March 13, 2011 (10:00AM) by Team Pongo

We hope you find these web links as humorous, inspiring, or notable as we did this week:

Didn't Get Hired? A Laughing Baby Can Be Great Therapy!  Here's what the father of an infant son did after receiving a job rejection letter. Save the link and watch this video any time it happens to you. The baby's laughter can wipe away any and all dejection and anger.

Cool Idea: Turn Your Facebook Pics into an Online Resume!  You know how FB shows five of your photos across the top of your page? In this JobMob guest post, Claudio Nader gives an easy 5-step method for a cool way to use that space as a visual, clickable resume, instead!

They're Taking Forever to Fill the Job Because They Want the Perfect Candidate …  Employers are hiring, but are taking their time to fill some jobs because they want to be sure they get the right person, according to this post on WSJ.com.

… But That May Be a Foolish Reason.  Suzanne Lucas, aka Evil HR Lady, read that article and says hiring managers are deluding themselves when they think the "perfect" candidate is out there somewhere. "You have work that someone needs to do, and it’s not getting done as long as the position is vacant," she writes. "Don’t wait for perfection.  It’s not out there."

On a More Serious Note: Google’s Person Finder.  Family and friends of Japan’s earthquake and tsunami victims can use the Person Finder, an online directory and message board, to try and locate or share knowledge about missing persons. First launched for the Haiti earthquake in 2010, Google’s Person Finder technology has helped thousands of disaster victims around the world.
