Calling All Simpsons Fans: Let's Write Homer's Resume

January 13, 2010 (3:35PM) by Rick Saia, CPRW

Last year, Julie took on the fun task of writing Dwight Schrute's resume as if he were looking for a job today. This past Sunday, creators of "The Simpsons" concluded a year-long 20th anniversary celebration of the award-winning show, and in honor of that milestone, I've started building Homer Simpson's resume. But I want your help!

It'd be easy to find all the information I need from Wikipedia and similar sources, but rather than write the whole thing myself, I'm asking you to tell me what should be included on Homer's resume.

The image below shows the resume framework we'll build upon. I started with his full-time, long-standing job at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant, then listed some of the temporary jobs he's held during the show's run.

Here's how you can help:

  • Use the comments section below to tell me what kind of accomplishments or skills should fall under each job title.
  • You can also take a shot at writing part (or all of) his Summary of Qualifications.
  • Are there other jobs from the show that you feel should be on the resume? Tell me what they should be, and add an accomplishment or skill (or both).

Once I have all your suggestions, I'll complete Homer's resume and share your collaborative efforts in a post next month. (Click here to view a larger version of the image below.)
