Thank you to everyone who nominated their favorite charities in our $500
Charity Giveaway post! We saw a great variety of charities in the mix, and hope the nominations promoted awareness of all the great causes our readers support.
Now, without further ado, the charities that will receive Pongo's $250 donations are...
- The Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League, nominated by Joan Schramm.
The Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League, Inc. (MAGDRL) was organized in 1979 to serve the seven states of the Mid-Atlantic region. MAGDRL rescues, rehabilitates and finds homes for abandoned, neglected, or abused Great Danes. Like all humane groups, MAGDRL is in the unique position of helping both humans and pets. In this case, the pets are Great Danes and mixed Dane dogs, and the people are those who have or want the companionship of the breed or, often, just dogs in general.

- The American Cancer Society through Relay For Life of Murrieta, nominated by Brandie Esposito.
The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is a life-changing event that gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. At Relay, teams of people camp out at a local high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Because cancer never sleeps, the Relays are overnight events up to 24 hours in length.
Brandie is participating in the 2010 Relay For Life in Murrieta, so Pongo will be donating $250 to Relay For Life on her behalf. To make your own donation, visit American Cancer Society Relay For Life.
